McDonald CO

With all of this rain, a small river is forming through my front pastures. If it warms up this weekend, it will be a wonderful time to go on a float trip! One of the closest places to to enjoy the water is the Elk River in McDonald Co, Missouri. The river is enjoyable due to the many swimming holes, rope swings, and scenic environment.

In Noel, Missouri, you will find the Bluff Dwellers Cavern. The cave is 56 degrees year around and boasts over 4000 feet of formation filled passages. Only 50% of the cave is developed so that the other 50% can remain natural to host wildlife. The Browning Museum is a part of the cavern and displays over 700 locally found arrowheads and artifacts.

If you are a fan of Jesse James, you won't want to miss Jess James Day in Pineville, Missouri. In 1938 the Jesse James movie was filmed in Pineville and every August Jesse James Day is hosted by the town with all proceeds going to the fire department.

The Elk River Golf Club is open 7 days a week and tee times are not required. The club also hosts tournaments.

Next time you want to enjoy the Ozarks, consider heading North to explore our neighboring county!
